Data systems in secondary schools: the state of play

While the teachers in most secondary schools in New Zealand recognise the importance of the student management system (SMS) for compiling and organising student achievement data, actually gathering and then using data appears to be less consistent. The present study examined the data systems that are in place for supporting teachers in building a comprehensive profile of student learning.
