This study was conducted by the Mobile Technology Learning Center (MTLC), a research entity operating under the auspices of the School of Leadership and Education Sciences at the University of San Diego. The study examined how, in the second year of the Encinitas Union School District (EUSD) iPad initiative, the use of mobile devices is affecting teaching and learning in district classrooms. Consisting of four in-depth case studies, the research was designed to help district administrators better understand the range of teaching practices and student activities and outcomes in classrooms where iPads are being used.
