The proliferation of MOOCs can be confusing and so perhaps it is time to turn to the opinions of the experts and recent research. In this case, the original developers of the theory and the concept of MOOCs, may be enlightening. Also, a recently released research paper that focusses on the sustainability of online learning and the development of a more strategic approach to it, is very worthwhile reading. The paper highlights the pedagogic opportunities and learner choices that may be available with a range of technology options, as sustainable models for online learning.
