The relationship between pedagogy and technology is one of the crucial aspects of the use of digital technologies in education to improve teaching and learning, yet we read so little on the topic. Most educational research about using digital technologies focusses on the device eg computer, ereader, mobile/cell phone, instead of the quality of students’ learning. Yet, the ‘link between technology and pedagogy is … weak’ (OECD, p. 144) which suggests that there is a tension between technology and pedagogy. The recently published OECD book Inspired by Technology, Driven by Pedagogy: A Systemic Approach to Technology-based School Innovations (pp. 160) is a summary of a number of major issues about the implementation of digital technologies in education based on the knowledge of international research and expert opinions.
