This report discusses the main issues of mobile ownership for children and young people, such as confusion experienced when trying to understand standard mobile phone plans, the difficulty experienced when trying to compare mobile phone plans, and the anxiety experienced when bill-shock occurs. The report provides recommendations for regulatory reform including alterations to the Telecommunications Consumer Protections Code to make it standard industry practice for all customers (including children and young people) to be given mobile phone contracts to take home for proper consideration before purchase.
